In 1998, after medical school I wanted to inspire people on radio. Public speaking comes naturally to me. I went to the offices of Radio Gold in Larterbiokorshie, Accra and basically asked for airtime to share an inspirational message every evening just to be a blessing other people.

The Manager Director, I believe it was Mr. Kwasi Baffoe-Bonnie at the time, was pleasantly amused. He could not believe this passionate young woman. After a some discussion I was directed to Kwasi (who I can not locate now), the programs manager. I was assigned an 11 pm slot, after the evening DJ'S music jam session. It was late in the night, but I was grateful for the opportunity.

The station was not paying me for airtime and I did not have to pay them. Just volunteering. This was my foray into radio. I prepared my messages during my morning quiet time. There was always something fresh for each day. In the evening after my housejob duties at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital I would drive to the radio station and prep for my "slot".

Every evening after work, I would drive to the radio station. Say hi to the staff and enter the chilled, fragrant air-conditioned studios, navigate to my chair, put on my big headphones, test the mic and be ready to take over from the evening DJ.

My voice will ring across Accra, Ghana. Inspiring many. I loved it. It was so fulfilling. It still is one of the sweetest memories in my life. Just the feedback the next morning was so uplifting about the lives that I was touching everyday. I did that for many months till an opportunity to go on a trip to Sao Paolo, Brazil with the Medical Women's International Association, curtailed that chapter and opened another chapter into living and working in the United States.

As a young person it is important to identify the things the issues that fuel your passion and pursue them.

You have been designed to fulfill your why? Have you found your why?
